Naena felt the heat before she saw it. Burning, blazing, scorching. Here it was where she was meant to feel most at home.
With a twist, Naena spun away from the blast of fire that engulfed the doorway a moment later, flames licking up the stone and scorching the granite black. She turned, jewelry tinkling and her light scarf rustling and falling back off her head, revealing long onyx hair, and smirked at the attacker with her hands on her hips. "Almost, Faresh."
Faresh grinned that gorgeous smile of his and laughed deep in his chest, ruffling his hair. "You're getting quicker Nae!" He exclaimed, pushing his fringe out of his eyes and taking a swig from the waterskin at his hip. Naena made a non-commital 'humph' noise and made to walk over to a bench before shooting her hand out and blasting a firebolt from her palm. Faresh reacted a moment too late in his surprise and the bolt crashed into his arm, smothering the fabric in orange and yellow flames. Faresh cursed loudly, jumping and hurriedly patted out the flames with his right hand.
"Damn it Naena, this was new!" Faresh looked up briefly to aim a glare at Naena, who had burst into a fit of giggles, but quickly looked down again to inspect the ragged singed hole in the arm of his tunic. This was the epitome of Naena's and Faresh's friendship. Although they had been forced into secrecy because of their different backgrounds, Naena knew she wouldn't meet another person she could trust as wholly as she did Faresh. The tall man was lanky in build but strong in arm from his gruelling training in the army. Unlike Naena, Faresh developed his Pyromentalist abilities on his own, but came from too poor a background to get proper training in the art. His skills were basic, even more so than Naena was when she was young, however his skill in the sword was unrivaled. Together, Faresh had taught Naena to be quick on her feet to make up for her lack of power when compared to some of the strongest Pyromentalists in the Ruling House, and she had taught him how to harness the fire with himself.
"I can't stay long today," Naena said, picking up a book from the desk which was situated at the far side of the training room. The room itself wasn't immediately large, but it was big enough (and inconspicuous enough) for Naena and Faresh to spar together and also not be discovered, as long as they were quiet. Naena sat softly on the bench, a picture of quiet poise as Faresh collapsed next to her, kicking off his boots, much to Naena's disgust, and slouching low against the wall. The difference between them both was stark.
"So you came to read?" Faresh commented, plucking the book out her grip. Her brow furrowed as she tried to snatch the book back, to no avail as Faresh held it away with his thumb and index finger, as if it was some foreign artifact covered in dirt.
"No, Faresh, now give it back." She tried to grasp the book again but it was whipped away from her once more. "Fine. No I came because my father is trying to get me to meet potential marriage candidates." She sighed, resigning herself to be book-less for now. Faresh paused, lips falling at the corners slightly.
"Marriage candidates?"

Bio (personality/history):
Being a Pyromentalist certainly has it's advantages. Being a Lady Pyromentalist of one of the Ruling Houses, indeed, has greater advantages, but to Naena, it also comes with an assortment of disadvantages. To say the least, Naena is nothing short of a tamed and trapped lioness with a fiery personality to match her blazing powers. Daughter to Lord Kaerik and Lady Naerin, Lord Kaerik being a lesser Pyromentalist in the Ruling House, Naena was raised on the presumption that she would one day inherit a generous amount of wealth and rise through the hierarchy of the Ruling House through either marriage or magical ability.
Throughout her early years, Naena showed promise of her intellectual knowledge through how well she wielded fire itself; her careful and precise movements were noticed by teachers and trainers, although she lacked true magical stamina and prowess. Studious and intelligent, Naena was more often than not found with her nose in a book, elbow deep in research on some ancient mythology that she was certain she could prove true. Dragons popped up more often than not. And although Naena proved herself in studies, she was a rebellious girl with a bad habit of slipping away from the palace during the day and mysteriously not turning up for Pyromentalist classes.
In her early teens, Naena was tutored in the ways of the court, forced out of her lax posture and clothing, hair unknotted and brushed long and sleek, and her clothes perfumed. She began her small and anxious steps into womanhood, where manners and looks seemed more important to the other nobles than the war that raged in countries across their very land. The war was not forgotten however, in fact it was used by many in profiting deals and blackmail. As Volcanion was in possession of the largest military force in all of Palandri, Naena was famailiarised with the army and her father regularly took her to visit the barracks to inspect their soldiers. It was rumored that when Naena was 16, she started coming to the barracks more often, and made a particular friend. Naena does not speak of who this person was, and her parents tried to squish any malicious rumors that may have been circulating. Her time there progressed to further training in her Pyromentalist magic, improving her skills somewhat.
Now, at 26 years old, her passion for the outdoors and sunshine has not dwindled in her personality, alongside her compassionate and stubborn nature. She's known for her rather commanding air as she stands tall with determined fiery eyes, and she is soon to inherit her father's lands. There is something about this war that spurs Naena to want to take part. The scholarly part of her knows she may be of use in tactics and planning, but her heart is telling her something is off. She has yet to figure out why.
